Barack Obama and George W. Bush are More Alike than you May Realize

President Barack Obama campaigned on a promise that he would be very different from his predecessor former President George W. Bush. When Bush was in office there were many individuals who ardently despised him because of the policies that he enacted. But if you look at Obama’s track record so far, the facts reveal that he has actually continued many of Bush’s hated policies and created several ones of his own. Here are just a few that you might not be aware of. The following are links to articles:

1. Obama signs an extension of The Patriot Act

2. Obama gets what Bush wanted, no legal rights for enemy combatants

3. Obama continues the practice of rendition, the practice of kidnapping terrorist suspects

4. Obama quietly removes pledge to withdraw troops from Iraq

5. Obama continues unconstitutional policy of warrantless surveillance

6. Obama will be given the right to shut down the internet

The facts don’t lie. Barack Obama is not that different then his predecessor when it comes to some policies. He wants you to think that Bush is the "bad guy" while at the same time he's doing the same things Bush did behind your back. The truth is, politicians are all the same in that they often make empty promises to you in order to get elected. Politicians from both sides of the isle will tell you whatever it takes to get your vote and this is why it's important that we vote for candidates based on their past policies, not on their political parties. We must send a clear message to every corrupt, dishonest politician in Washington that they need to change their behavior and become more honest otherwise they will lose our vote and thus their power. If you are one of those people who have participated in partisan politics before in the past make a pledge to yourself that you will no longer vote for people based on party lines. The future of our constitution and our country lies in your hands.

4 Simple Reasons why Politicians are Destroying our Economy

  1. For me there is a big difference between George W. Bush and Barack Obama. I trust George W. Bush and I don't trust Barack Obama.

I am not speaking from political savvy; I am not speaking because I am well-versed in Supply-side or Marxist economics. You could call it a spiritual discernment based on my Christian beliefs. The United States was much safer with President Bush than it is now with President Obama.

The common man may not be able to hang out in the fashionable salons and discuss the finer details of politics. But the common man knows who he can trust. This is why so many people voted for President Reagan. People trusted Reagan.

No, I don't think all politicians are alike. But there are, no doubt, silver-tongued politicians who are good at pulling the wool over people's eyes. Vigilance is the price of freedom.

That's why blogs like this are important, so people can read and stay informed on what is going on in our government. A literate population is a more responsible and well-informed population.

  2. The point I was trying to make is that some individuals on the left continue to support Obama despite the fact that he has continued many of the same policies that they claimed were unconstitutional when Bush was in office. Politicians are all the same in the sense that they all have the need to get and stay elected. And so the only way to determine if they will actually carry out what they promise when they are trying to get elected is to look at their policy histories, not the political party they belong to because there are wolves in sheep’s clothing on both sides of the isle.

Broadly speaking, no politicians are not all the same, which is why I said that people need to take the time to look at their voting records and past policies and vote for people based on what they actually believe in, not their political party otherwise this unconditional political support will be abused. It shouldn’t be about the party, it should be about the individual because that’s what really matters. The difference between Bush and Ronald Reagan illustrates my point because they were both Republicans but had very different policies. Arlen Specter is another example. There were many conservatives in Specter’s district who wanted to vote for a more conservative candidate then him but instead gave their vote to Specter because they thought he had a better chance at winning then the more conservative candidate did. But once Specter won his district he changed his political party from Republican to Democrat so all those people who voted for him basically ended up losing their vote anyway because they’re now being represented by a Democrat. They should have just voted for the candidate who had the more conservative political history and not the Republican who had the better shot at winning because he ended up stabbing them in the back.

If you ask me both political parties have too much power for their own good which is why Washington is so corrupt and nothing ever gets done there. Politicians can abuse their power and make empty promises to their constituents because they know they will never be voted out. Unconditional political support for any party with no concern as to what a politician actually stands for and does once they’re in office, allows this to happen.
